Food for thought

Although the importance of nutrition in supporting lifelong wellbeing is increasingly acknowledged; in today’s fast-paced world, convenience often replaces genuine nourishment. For children – whose developing bodies and minds are in greatest need of balanced, wholesome food – this reliance on processed products is particularly troubling.

It’s a challenge that Founder and Director of Milieu Early Education and Care, Daniela Silicato, one of The CEO Magazine’s Top Tech Innovators of 2025, addresses head-on.

While Milieu has been operating for just four years, Silicato has helped design, develop and establish childcare centers for over 13 years, driven by a deep passion for creating environments where children, their families and educators can thrive.

“Coming from a family of business owners, I am always surrounded by strong leadership and innovation, which inspires me to combine my entrepreneurial spirit with my love for early childhood education,” she tells The CEO Magazine.

“Being recognized through multiple industry awards, including Excellence in Food and Menu Design in 2024 and, most recently, the Business Excellence Award in 2025 at the National Childcare Excellence Awards is a humbling reminder that when you lead with purpose and heart, great things follow.”

Nurturing environment

The next 12–18 months will see Silicato pouring her energy into further expanding the Milieu brand and developing new centers that reflect its “boutique, community-focused philosophy.”

“A major part of this growth is centered around our niche area of expertise – food,” she reveals. “We’re passionate about the role nutrition plays in a child’s development, and we continue to refine this aspect of our program by creating our own Milieu recipe range designed specifically for children in early education.”

Maintaining the company’s high safety standards is another priority. Silicato explains that each center is designed and operated to ensure children are in secure, supportive environments, with educators equipped to offer safe, consistent care around the clock.

“Ultimately, my goal is to expand thoughtfully and purposefully, ensuring each new Milieu service continues to celebrate creativity, nurture children’s wellbeing, and offer families something truly unique, safe and high-quality in the early education space,” she says.

The nurturing environment Silicato creates at Milieu is her proudest achievement. Not only does she build a successful business model, but the impact of her work has profound meaning, elevating the lives of children, families and educators.
