Williams Brothers Construction Company (WB) has served the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) since its inception in 1955. A consistent Engineering News-Record Top 400 Contractor, WB is a trailblazer in heavy highway and bridge infrastructure.

WB is first and foremost a bridge builder. Vertical integration was a conscious undertaking by WB where it could develop and control most of the contributing components to its core function – bridge building. The ultimate purpose was to control quality and schedule – important considerations for its clients.

WB’s vertical integration is two-fold in nature – support processes and operations. WB owns and operates concrete plants, hot mix plants, pugmills and crushers.  It can manufacture any of the major construction materials required by a project.

Moving materials and equipment in a timely manner is essential in building transportation infrastructure. WB owns and operates 650+ heavy duty diesel trucks, 800+ off-road construction equipment and 70+ cranes.

WB has a subsidiary company that produces all precast concrete products including prestress concrete beams. WB’s foundation expertise is unprecedented. It has constructed millions of linear feet of drill shafts on land and marine environments and driven pile at record depths.

Most projects are not purely bridge work. Through the years, WB added road operations into its construction repertoire. It performs earthmoving, base courses, paving of all types and underground utilities. WB is now the largest concrete paving firm in the United States and has experience in performing construction feats, which at that moment in time had never been done.

It’s not enough to be good at what you do. A well-rounded company must set the example. WB supports numerous organizations that seek to improve community and industry. WB gives back to its community through support of local charities such as the Star of Hope, Salvation Army, SEARCH and Neighborhood Centers. It also supports the education of the youth through college scholarships.

He has assembled what could be described as the best executive team in the Department’s history. Under his guidance, Williams’ team is responsible for overseeing the planning, development and implementation of transportation infrastructure projects across the state.

A steadfast public servant, Williams remains accountable to 13,000 employees, the Texas Transportation Commission, and the state’s taxpayers as he delivers mobility, enables economic opportunity and enhances safety and quality of life.

Marc understands the value of partnership with the industry, especially with the Associated General Contractors of Texas. The ability to align goals, discuss issues and challenges to achieve integrated execution portends well for future critical improvements.

Williams’ accomplishments led to his selection as a Distinguished Graduate of Texas A&M University Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering.
