Established in 1983 and headquartered in Singapore, the Prestige Group is a leading distributor and retailer of luxury fragrances and cosmetics in South-East Asia and Australasia. In the last 40 years, the group has established an excellent track record in growing sales; nurturing luxury brand image and customer loyalty; and expanding distribution network and retail footprints. It has become a partner of choice for many brand owners, landlords and retail players who are looking for a trusted and rewarding long-term relationship.

Established Markets

Retail sales in each country are largely generated through perfume counters located within departmental stores; ‘Atelier De Prestige’ boutiques located in prime location that sell multiple niche perfume brands; as well as monobrand boutiques, with each selling a single luxury perfume brand. This approach has led to higher sales and directly contributed to the growth of the luxury fragrance industry.

Humble Beginnings

The man who started Prestige Group of Companies and who has worked hard for its legacy is Vinod Dadlani, the fourth-youngest among his five siblings. He finished his education in 1977, served in the army until 1980, and then went straight to work. After spending three years working in the field of general trading, he invested some personal savings and ventured out alone to source and distribute fragrances. He was confident that this would be the industry that would grow exponentially in the years to come and he never looked back.

In the early 1980s, starting and running a luxury fragrance distribution business was difficult. Vinod worked long hours and traveled regularly to Europe to meet and negotiate with suppliers. He learned the ropes of the business by doing everything himself and solving teething problems. He went door-to-door, gathering orders and support from potential dealers and retailers. He also frequented trade exhibitions to scout for promising new brands for distribution. Business started to bear fruit and he reinvested his profits. Now, at the end of 2023, the group has expanded to seven countries (Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, Philippines, Australia and New Zealand), employs more than 900 staff and manages about 50 brands at any one time.

A Clear Vision

Vinod ’s vision, hard work, passion and meticulous approach in business is known to industry players, principals and customers. In 2020, he was awarded the honorary title of “Dato” by the Sultan of Pahang for his contributions to the people of Malaysia.

Vinod understands the need for succession planning. In recent years, he added more professionals to his Senior Management team and improved his corporate governance.

40 years ago, Vinod chose to hone his skills in the fields of luxury fragrance marketing and distribution. His impact is felt in the industry. Now, he has achieved mastery and success. He attributes his success to the support from his employees, friends, principals and customers, and he is grateful to all of them.
