As one of Canada’s largest construction companies, Pomerleau Construction achieved over CAD4.8 billion [US$3.36 billion] in revenue in 2023, showcasing its robust growth and industry leadership.
Since 2010, the company has established itself as a trusted and innovative construction partner in Toronto, executing a diverse portfolio of projects for esteemed clients such as Canada Post Corporation, Infrastructure Ontario, The University of Toronto, Sheridan College, City of Hamilton and the Toronto Transit Commission.
As the company continues to expand its presence in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA), it remains committed to delivering exceptional value for their clients, fostering positive engagement throughout the construction life cycle, and creating infrastructure that truly benefits community.
Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport is an important international gateway – a vital part of the Canadian transportation infrastructure – and it plays an essential role in the economy of the GTA region. Pomerleau was selected to deliver the much-anticipated United States Customs and Border Protection Preclearance Facility scheduled for operation in late 2025.
“This is an exciting project for Pomerleau,” states Sean Smithson, Regional Vice-President (Toronto). “The Facility will enhance the passenger experience and provide great economic benefits for Toronto and the surrounding region.”
This project compliments the portfolio of airport work Pomerleau has delivered across the country, including projects at Toronto Pearson International Airport, Ottawa International Airport, Montreal-Pierre Elliot Trudeau International Airport and Quebec Jean-Lesage International airport.
Pomerleau has extensive experience in executing projects requiring highly secure environments, a critical requirement for operational airports.
The project area is entirely within an active terminal, except for a small addition to the building. From the outset, Pomerleau established a strong partnership with Nieuport Aviation to facilitate the necessary security clearances and approvals. Meticulous planning and coordination with airport operations was undertaken to incorporate strict safety and security protocols and construction areas were thoughtfully delineated to minimize disruption for travelers.

Throughout the project’s progression, constant communication is maintained with the client to promptly address any concerns and to ensure their confidence that passengers continue to experience the airport’s reputable best-in-class service.
Pomerleau’s commitment to excellence and community engagement is evident in every project. As we continue to build infrastructure that matters, we remain dedicated to fostering trust and delivering value to the communities we serve.
