Mercedes-Benz Vans is dedicated to providing its valued customers with superior customized upfitting solutions and support.

Mercedes-Benz Vans has a focused strategy to target profitable growth in the private and commercial van segments.

As the leading premium light commercial vehicle manufacturer, Mercedes-Benz Vans aims to offer its customers the most desirable vans and services. Key objectives include further strengthening the brand’s position in the upper market segments, raising ambition levels for cost and industrial competitiveness and leading the industry in electric drive technology and digital experience.

As a successful and fully integrated business unit within Mercedes-Benz AG, Mercedes-Benz Vans is the founder and innovator of the light commercial vehicle (LCV) segment, which bridges cars and trucks.

Some 30 years ago, the division created the ‘Sprinter’ segment, which is still the flagship of the portfolio today. In addition, Mercedes-Benz Vans also serves the mid-range van segment with the privately positioned V-Class and the Vito commercial van. The commercially positioned Citan, as well as the T-Class, which is offered to private customers, round off the portfolio as small vans.

Mercedes-Benz Vans was also a forerunner in electric vans: In 2010, the division introduced its first electric series-production van, the Vito E-CELL.Since 2023, Mercedes-Benz Vans offers fully electric variants in every segment, from small, midsize to large vans.

With more than 40,000 eVans already sold in total, Mercedes-Benz Vans is targeting strong growth and an EV share of up to 20 percent by 2026 and more than 50 percent by 2030.

Customized Upfitters

Parcel delivery, people mover, delivery of goods or mobile workshop: together with its globally operating upfitters, Mercedes-Benz Vans enables well-equipped, tailor-made vehicles that are perfectly adjusted to the specific commercial purposes of its customers.

The commercial van segment, for which Mercedes-Benz Vans is pursuing a premium strategy, represents around 80 percent of the division’s sales share. More than 75 percent of the commercial large vans sold by Mercedes-Benz today are converted by upfitters. They ensure that the vehicles are not only functional, but also adapted to the individual requirements of the industry.

Mercedes-Benz Vans serves a total of nine commercial sectors, which are all important for keeping our world running smoothly. The range spans from courier, express and parcel vehicles (CEP), over ambulances to the highly profitable segment of camper vans.

Whether construction, CEP and logistics, trade and eGrocery, People Mover or Service and Crafts, every industry has specific challenges and tasks that need to be overcome on a day-to-day basis.

The vehicle is often essential for a smooth workflow and that’s why the vans from Mercedes-Benz serve as basic transporters, which are equipped in line with the industry’s requirements thanks to the individual body and conversion solutions of partners from the upfitter sector. The safe loading and transport of various materials, goods and tools can be guaranteed on the one hand, as well as comfortable passenger transport on the other hand.

Optimal Solutions

The Mercedes-Benz Industry and Upfitter Center has a long-standing and trusting cooperation with almost 6,000 upfitters worldwide. With their technical expertise and corresponding innovation know-how, the diverse van requirements of customers can be fulfilled.

And, when it comes to the electrification of the industry’s vehicles, upfitters are also contributing relevant knowledge. To ensure the best possible efficiency regarding payload and range, the basic vehicle and the conversion must fit together perfectly.

For commercial customers, this means that they can choose between the particularly sought-after VanSolution directly from the factory of Mercedes-Benz or the conversion solutions from certified VanPartner by Mercedes-Benz.

In the end, it all comes down to one thing: each customer should receive the optimal solution for their individual tasks. Mercedes-Benz Conversion World, the end-customer platform for body and conversion solutions for every industry, provides an overview of a wide range of industry solutions.

“An international study determined top scores in the areas of customer satisfaction and loyalty for the Mercedes-Benz Industry and Upfitter Center. The fact that the good communication and the appreciation toward our partners are praised above all makes me personally very proud. Our goal is to continue working with our partners in the upfitter business to strengthen our premium position.”
