Victor Young believes Lamborghini Sarasota is a club for extraordinary people. “It’s clearly our superpower and is attracts other extraordinary clients and future staff members. The Lamborghini brand is infused in our culture and acts as our guiding compass,” the President and Co-Owner explains.
In 2009, during Young’s first meeting with Automobili Lamborghini, he recalls hearing the phrase ‘unmistakably Lamborghini’. It is this phrase that kickstarted his journey to understand the inspiration behind the brand and the culture that makes Lamborghini unmistakably known around the world.
“A 12-year-old can hear the exhaust note from a v12 Lamborghini engine and know is the all-powerful bull. That’s a testament that Lamborghini has succeeded in separating the brand from the pack,” Young says.
Sarasota in Florida, where the dealership is located, is a Lamborghini town, Young explains. “People who live there expect the best of everything and have worked hard to earn that expectation,” he says. “Some people don’t realize that most of our clients still run their own companies or perform at the highest level within their industry every day.”
More than just being a signal of wealth, he believes people are drawn to the Lamborghini brand for the lifestyle and values it reflects.
“Lamborghini is a lifestyle brand that speaks to the spirit of its owners. It’s not about being flashy,” Young explains. “I think that people who drive Lamborghini’s connect with the hard-working spirit of Ferruccio Lamborghini, the company’s Founder. He was a mechanic, entrepreneur, inventor and even a winemaker prior to becoming a supercar designer.
“Ferruccio and I have a lot in common. I wish I would have been able to meet him. I think we would have gotten along well, even though I make bourbon and not wine.”
Since its 2009 launch, Lamborghini Sarasota has experienced massive growth. The owner, Morgan Auto Group, now has 65 dealerships in the United States and its revenue is over US$6 billion annually.
“Lamborghini’s design, performance and reliability has grown as well over the years. It has become an aspirational purchase for many within our organization,” Young says.
