Jindal Stainless has a melt capacity of 1.9 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) and an annual turnover of US$3.75 billion (trailing 12 months as on December 2021). It has two integrated stainless steel manufacturing complexes in the Indian states of Haryana and Odisha, an overseas unit in Indonesia, a chain of service centres in India and one unit in Spain. Market leaders in India with a majority domestic share, Jindal Stainless exports products to over 60 countries.

Jindal Stainless’ material is also used to produce 20 billion razor blades annually. The Company offers a diversified product basket in value-added and specialty stainless steel products including precision strips, blade steel, coin blanks, sheets, plates, and coils. Jindal Stainless and Monnaie de Paris

Jindal Stainless’ association with Monnaie De Paris dates back to 2004, when it had stepped into the international coin business. Monnaie de Paris’ global reputation for quality benchmarking, constant innovation, and business ethics made it a cherished and coveted client. A mutually rewarding partnership has enabled the Company to benchmark products and services as per stringent international quality parameters through continuous improvement.

Having supplied nearly 4,000 metric tonnes of world-class coin blanks to the mint, the Company has advanced its state-of-the-art machinery for blanking, joining, polishing, and inspection as per global standards. With Monnaie de Paris’ strong technical support and expert guidance, it is now equipped to develop value-added products like shaped blanks, stainless steel rings, and edge-lettered blanks. It now looks forward to developing special alloy products and better serving the French mint.

The Company also supplies coin blanks to mints in Canada, Slovakia, Finland, the Netherlands and the UK, among others. It aims to gain a majority share in the export blanks market and to unleash the infinite opportunities this field has to offer.

Thinking Globally, Acting Locally

Through its CSR arm, Jindal Stainless Foundation (JSF), Jindal Stainless is actively working in areas of women empowerment, education and skill development, integrated health care, sustainability, and community development. From augmenting farmers’ incomes to nurturing livelihood generation programs among women and youth, it focuses on holistic development of communities in Haryana and Odisha. The Company is a signatory to the UN Global Compact (UNGC) network and Global Compact Network India (GCNI), and abides by their 10 universally accepted principles on human rights, labour, environment and anti-corruption.

During the pandemic, Jindal Stainless was at the forefront to proactively supply Liquid Medical Oxygen to healthcare facilities from its manufacturing facilities. The Company constituted a COVID task-force which undertook several relief measures for employees and the peripheral population. It also converted our school in Haryana into an emergency 500-bed COVID hospital.

An ecosystem of Stainless Steel

Through a direct workforce of over 20,000 employees, and countless indirect partners, vendors, clients and downstream industries, Jindal Stainless is influencing the transition of the Indian stainless steel industry from import dependency to self-reliance.

As an industry leader, it has developed a comprehensive ecosystem for stainless steel in India, Stainless Academy. This comprises fabricator training programs in over 60 Indian cities, benefiting more than 11,000 local fabricators that have been instrumental in educating existing and potential customer segments, and increasing the adoption of stainless steel across sectors.

Its courses on stainless steel and ferro-alloys are taught in 11 reputed Indian educational institutions. The Company has recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Government of Haryana to introduce stainless steel courses in 41 polytechnic colleges in the state, upskilling more than 3,000 students.

Additionally, training is conducted for jail inmates, railway fabricators and welders, and micro and small enterprises are actively incubated and nurtured in the stainless steel industry.

Sustainably Stainless

Sustainability is woven into the ethos of Jindal Stainless. It manufactures stainless steel primarily through the scrap route, and all its products are completely recyclable – making it an active participant in a circular economy.

The Company has successfully deployed CO₂ emission reduction through waste heat generation and use of by-product coke oven gas in heating and annealing furnaces. It is also in the process of setting up a solar power facility.

It is fully equipped to meet the stainless steel demand emerging from newer applications using Green Hydrogen, ethanol and methanol, and more, and lead the overall development of the Indian stainless steel ecosystem. As a responsible corporate citizen, it has implemented dedicated Environment, Health and Safety (EHS) efforts. Going forward, Jindal Stainless is committed to writing India’s green future.
