How can industry close innovation gaps that have long impacted success throughout public sector missions? Agile Defense, a seasoned defense contractor driven by bold action, is embarking on a strategic pivot to deliver innovation that outpaces adversarial threats. The key to success lies in adopting a new way of thinking while embracing speed, flexibility and ingenuity. Through this evolution, Agile Defense is transforming how national security missions, particularly those undertaken by the Army, achieve operational and strategic success.

Advancing a Portfolio of Excellence

With over 25 years’ experience, Agile Defense works closely with DoD customers to understand and solve challenges associated with innovation. In October 2023, Agile Defense welcomed new Chief Executive Officer Rick Wagner to enact a bold strategic vision as the organization cultivates its identity as a premier mid-size solutions integrator. Since joining the team, Wagner has made further organizational shifts around growth and innovation that demonstrate Agile Defense’s commitment to investing in advanced technologies and aligning strategic partnerships with warfighter needs.

“Today’s challenges demand more than just solutions; they require relentless innovation. We must pioneer new paths, rethink old strategies, and embrace the unknown with unwavering determination,” Wagner says. “Innovation isn’t just a choice; it’s our imperative if we’re to truly solve hard problems.”

With the addition of John Hart as the Chief Growth Officer (CGO), and Razwan Raja as the Chief Innovation Officer (CINO), Agile Defense is taking deliberate action to help the DoD achieve its 2030 goals today. The renewed vision and focused strategy of Agile Defense create the necessary framework to test, evaluate and actualize innovation by accepting levels of risk that produce actionable results. Ultimately, Agile Defense is generating solutions that help solve digital transformation, data and cybersecurity challenges; promote safe ways to migrate to cloud technologies; and modernize the United States’ most critical missions in the age of digital warfare.

Acquiring Technologies and Forging Partnerships

To ensure this approach to technical innovation results in operational success, Agile Defense is establishing Agile Labs. This component of the organization explores how the DoD can safely adopt better data solutions and elements of artificial intelligence, while minimizing cybersecurity risks. Agile Defense is building state-of-the-art virtual security operation centers that utilize automation and machine learning to detect real-time threats targeting highly sensitive networks. The company is also leveraging data-centric solutions and capabilities to tackle critical digital transformation challenges for systems, platforms, applications and cloud-based environments. These advancements ultimately affirm the warfighter’s superior position and strengthen the United States’ ability to support full spectrum global operations.

“I firmly believe that innovation isn’t just about staying ahead of the curve; it’s about shaping the curve itself,” Raja says. “In a world where technology evolves at breakneck speed, innovation isn’t a luxury – it’s a necessity.”

At Agile Defense, speed is balanced with ingenuity and flexibility to drive innovation. The company focuses on purpose-built teams that utilize foresight, adaptability and continuous improvement, aiming for incremental progress and transformative advancements.

Tenured Programs

Agile Defense’s long-standing programs demonstrate its ability to evolve alongside the DoD’s changing needs, showcasing expertise, reliability and dedication to excellence. The end-to-end support that Agile Defense provides extends from the strategic opportunities with Army Research Lab to the tactical needs of the Army Network Enterprise Technology Command. These opportunities enable the company to invest in solutions that shape and deliver technical capabilities across Army elements, creating large-scale advancements throughout their organizations. Agile Defense is proud to support several key missions including Army Program Executive Office – Aviation, Program Executive Office Missiles and Space, Army Training and Doctrine Command, Army Central ARCENT G6 and many others.

Each awarded contract provides Agile Defense with new knowledge that shapes its future. This is evidenced through recent contract awards supporting Project Manager Mission Command and Defense Information Systems Agency Joint Interoperability Test Command. These advancements underscore Agile Defense’s ability to deliver complex solutions with precision and efficiency, further solidifying our reputation as a leader in the industry.
