Here’s a brief rundown of the distinguished categories in The CEO Magazine’s 2024 Executive of the Year Awards.

Now in its 13th year, The CEO Magazine Executive of the Year Awards continues to raise the bar for recognizing business excellence across multiple industries and disciplines.

To help you decide which category an applicant should enter, we’ve compiled all the answers for you right here.

Categories

In 2024, we’ll be focusing on specific sectors. Each applicant should select the sector that best reflects their business offering. The sectors we have chosen for this year are as follows:

• CEO of the Year Banking, Financial Services & Insurance

• CEO of the Year Healthcare

• CEO of the Year Property Development & Real Estate

• CEO of the Year Year Consumer & Lifestyle

• CEO of the Year Information Technology & Telecommunications

• CEO of the Year Not-for-Profit

• CEO of the Year Manufacturing

• CEO of the Year Professional Services

• CEO of the Year Construction, Transport & Logistics

• CEO of the Year Energy & Mining


Criteria

To recognize the best executives in Australia, there are some must-haves for all applications.

 

To be an eligible applicant you must:

• be able to demonstrate excellence in your role;

• be employed in a private, public, not-for-profit business, government organization or a registered charity in Australia;

• work for or own an organization that has an Australian Business Number (ABN)/Australian Company Number (ACN);

• be domiciled/based in Australia;

• work for or own a business with a minimum revenue of A$5 million (this does not apply for not-for-profits);

• be available for a photoshoot (winners only);

• hold the title of CEO or one of the following: Managing Director, President, Founder or Chief Executive; Executive Chairperson; and

• be available to attend the Awards ceremony in Sydney on Thursday, 14 November 2024.

To be an eligible applicant you must not:

• have filed for bankruptcy.

CEO of the Year Banking, Financial Services & Insurance

Including but not limited to: Banking, Financial Services, Insurance, Asset Managers, Private Wealth, Venture Capital, Private Equity, Multi-Family Office.

CEO of the Year Healthcare

Including but not limited to: Public Hospitals, Private Hospitals, Healthtech, Pharmaceutical, Biotech, Medical Equipment, Corporate Wellness.

CEO of the Year Property Development & Real Estate

Including but not limited to: Property Developers, Commercial Real Estate, Residential Real Estate, REITs, Industrial Property and Facilities Management.

CEO of the Year Consumer & Lifestyle

Including but not limited to: Hotels, Travel Agents, Airlines, Tour Operators, Restaurants and Entertainment Venues.

CEO of the Year Information Technology & Telecommunications

Including but not limited to: Software and Services, Hardware and Equipment, Semiconductors and Semiconductor Equipment.

CEO of the Year Not-for-Profit

Including but not limited to: Social Enterprise that has a social aim, and operates to benefit a local community or society as a whole. The mission of social enterprises can range from community service projects, childcare, recycling companies, apprenticeship programs and more.

CEO of the Year Manufacturing

Including but not limited to: Apparel, Consumer Electronics, Chemical, Automotive, FMCG, Food, Beverage, Aerospace and Construction Materials.

CEO of the Year Professional Services

Including but not limited to: Business Services, Accounting, Advertising, Consulting, Advisory, Recruitment, Legal, Risk and Marketing.

CEO of the Construction, Transport & Logistics

Including but not limited to: Construction companies, Infrastructure Development, Logistics Service Providers, Freight and Cargo Management, Shipping Companies, Airlines, Railways, Road Transport Services, Supply Chain Management, Warehousing and Distribution Networks.

CEO of the Year Energy & Mining

Including but not limited to: all companies supplying Energy and Mining Services and Products

Overall CEO of the Year

This is the preeminent award of the event and is awarded to the CEO with the highest score in any sector. It is decided by the external judges.

Lifetime Achievement Award

This prestigious award recognizes the valuable contributions made by an individual over the breadth of their career. This award cannot be applied for and is decided by the external judges. This award cannot be applied for and is decided by the external judges.

100% Human at Work Award

This exciting new award recognizes an organization that is disrupting old ways of doing things to shape a future of work, and that possesses the 100% Human at Work core values of respect, equity, growth, belonging and purpose.


The Application Process

Once the applicant has chosen their sector they will be invited to answer questions in the portal from the following categories. Each sector applicant will be asked the same questions within their sector for their application.

• Brand Sentiment

• Philanthropy

• Diversity, Equity and Inclusion

• Positive Impact on Society

• Positive Stakeholder Engagement

The candidate that scores the highest cumulative score from the above category questions within their sector submission will be the winner of the sector award.

The CEO with the overall highest cumulative score from across the sectors will be the Overall CEO of the Year.

Entrants will be eligible to win any ONE of the sector awards and the Overall CEO of the Year category.

The judges may enter into video conference calls with nominees to clarify any parts of an application.

While this is a written submission, please add whatever additional documentation – presentations, videos, financials – that you feel may best support your application.
